The evening will begin with synchronizing our inhalation and exhalation to the heart beat of the drums stirring our soul and inviting us to deeply tune into the sensations in our bodies. Participants will be invited to join in creating drum rhythms as a group that resonate with our individual and collective energies. Drumming has a way of connecting us to our own natural rhythms\, the pulse of the earth\, and the rhythms of the people we chose to drum with\, uniting us in a common purpose. The drums mirror your connection to mother earth\, as the beat of the drum can represent the crack of lightning\, pounding ocean waves\, or the tumult of an earthquake. Dancing with the drums grounds us into the earth where we are always held in safety and the unwavering support. Free-flowing movement and dance will be encouraged as a form of movement meditation. Without choreography\, a dancer can find new ways of moving\, which helps us embody new ways of being and thinking in our daily lives. Ecstatic dance comes from the Latin word ekstasis meaning to become unstuck or free from blocks which is why it works so powerfully with the drums to remove perceived inner limitations. Both drumming and dancing provide powerful non-verbal outlets for expressing our emotions and releasing what no longer serves. Remember\, there is no right or wrong way to drum and dance\, just come join us with an open mind and heart. The evening will end in stillness as we integrate the profound experience with the drums being played over your bodies helping you to quiet the mental chatter and move into a greater state of consciousness.
